Hollow roof prisms and
retroreflectors are typically used in cases where the optical
path through a glass prism would be undesirable, where weight
must be reduced, where the element must be used in environments
with high shock and vibration levels, or where the element must
be thermally stable in its mount.
Custom Hollow Metal
Retroreflectors
The majority of the hollow
metal retroreflectors that we produce are designed and
manufactured to custom specifications for a wide variety of OEM
applications such as FTIR Instrumentation and Laser Coordinate
Measuring . Our custom retroreflectors are typically
manufactured using either a stainless-steel or Aluminum
substrate with either a Bare Gold, Bare Aluminum, or Protected
Aluminum coating. Substrate sizes range from 3 mm to 65 mm in
virtually any shape that can be machined or molded.

Product Description
Our replicated hollow metal retroreflectors are monolithic or single piece construction. Fabricated from a solid piece of Aluminum, the facets of the mirror cannot shift and return beam accuracy is unaffected by vibration. Using front-surface reflection, the mirrors are achromatic and require no wavelength-dependent refraction offset. We offer 4 standard sizes of high-precision cylindrical retroreflectors, each with 3 different high-precision return beam accuracies. We also offer a 2.5" hexagonal shaped, retroreflector with 30 arc sec. return beam accuracy for applications that do not require the precision of our 50326 series retroreflectors. The mirrors are coated with bare Gold, which provides very high reflectance from the near infrared through long wave infrared.
